There is a lot going on this weekend. We've been coloring eggs, packing shorts and t-shirts and getting excited for Easter. We will be heading out of town for the weekend to spend this most special of holidays with good friends. We are happy for a few days together in the warm Spring air.
But first we had to face a sad, final goodbye to our dog, Maverick. Shawn carried him home in his arms as a bouncy puppy over ten years ago and today he carried him in his arms again, a very tired and suffering old friend. I may have complained a lot about his hair and digging but he was a good dog. He loved us and let us love on him (which in the kids case meant a lot of ear and tail pulling). He was part of the family and he will be missed.
Oh, Kelli (and Shawn) ... I am crying sad tears over here over your loss. I am so sorry to hear about Mav. He was such a good dog, a faithful friend, a loving companion and "four-footed" brother. No doubt his presence will be missed greatly in the next few days/weeks/months, but I hope that very soon the sadness will be replaced with smiles from happy memories.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sorry for your loss! There is just nothing quite like a good dog.
ReplyDeleteKelli and Shawn, my heart hurts so much for the loss of your beloved Maverick. May he find eternal peace. At least you know he has a friend in doggie heaven with my Ginger. They will be exellent friends, I just know it.
ReplyDeleteOh, no....I'm so sorry. Pets are so wonderful but it's heart-wrenching when it's time to say goodbye.
ReplyDeleteFarewell, Maverick!
ReplyDeleteSo sad to think about Maverick not being a part of your bouncy-household! lots of good memories....regret that Kenna will have only vague memories and Kate will never recall....we often speak of 'sweet little kelsey' and generally laugh when memories of 'nikki' come along!! luv d
ReplyDeleteHow sad for you. We had to put down our 14-year-old dog a few weeks ago. It was difficult, but it was for the best.
ReplyDeleteKelli: I can't find a way to comment on your last two posts....am I missing something??
ReplyDeleteAs far as your "637 photos later" post: that is how I feel all the time...I take so many photos, then don't even know where to start in blogging them (I don't upload them nearly often enough).
And....your Easter pictures look so cute. I would love to know how you make those collages (we were talking about that on our girls' night in January). Is it a Picasa trick?
PS. And thanks for the strawberry jam link!!
