fall colors

It was a sad day a few weeks ago when I looked outside and realized the world had frozen overnight. It snuck up on me, that first freeze, and the resulting brown and wilted flowers that were so bright just a day before. Consolation came a few days later when the trees began to react to the changing temperatures. Yellow, gold and red towering in the woods, they have more than made up for the lack of flowers in the yard.
